Opossums are nocturnal animals that spend most of their time scavenging for food. They will eat almost anything they can find. This includes a plethora of items which may be seen in your back yard. There are simple ways to help decrease your chances of Opossums taking up residence on your premises. You may start by remove woodpiles and other debris that opossums tend to use as hiding areas. Additionally, make sure that you keep up on the elimination of ripe fruit. Do not leave animal food out immediately and keep all shrubs and trees cut off from rooftops. Secure all shed doors and use metal flashing around tree trunks to prevent climbing.
